Should there be a roleplaying board?

...Okay. Hear me out.

Roleplaying has always been a popular thing with Pokémon, and of course, the more business we get here on the FrancisGTS boards, the better (Think of it as encouragement for me).

I'm not a personal fan of the majority of roleplaying I see, but I came across a thread on /vp/ the other night that peaked my interest.


The thread in question was in regards to a self-proclaimed League certified Kanto breeder, who was "part nurse, part psychiatrist, part friend and part trainer". As such, they were helping /tr/ainers with their problems.

It was by far the most entertaining roleplaying I'd seen since /vp/'s creation. And I absolutely love the realistic take on Pokémon, since, as I've said before--the world's common lack of any sort of logic astounds me.

So I leave this to you guys: Should we start a board?

I think a roleplaying bored could be kinda cool. While I'm not a role player my self it could be neat to see what people come up with, and besides you said it your self, it could up the amount of new members that join and thats never a bad thing. Go for it.

then again think of the insanity that can be brought through bad roleplay, as I have presented before in the where's francis threads. Also the fact that they could leak out into the more serious threads, and the fact that we could always run into the dreaded furry in a roleplay. If you were to make a roleplay section you would definitely need to up the moderating in there.

You do have a good point. If a roleplaying board IS made, I'll be sure to appoint enough moderators to keep it clean.

Eh, I've roleplayed with furries before and they're generally not too bad. The problem is forcing them to roleplay as a human. I had one as my DM for a while, and he's one of my favorites specifically because he kept all that furry bullshit out of the campaign. Obviously pen and paper rpgs are a bit different than internet roleplaying sessions, but as long as we scrutinize the character sheets we shouldn't have any trouble.

But if I see even ONE GODDAMN CHARACTER who is a vampire, you can expect my character to go into an unstoppable, unexplained rage.

Interesting idea. I guess it could be interesting. For a time I Role Played as a Pokemon amongst a group of Twitter users who formed a collective of Pokemon-Fans-RPing-As-Pokemon. We hardly stayed in character, and did things that you wouldn't see happening in the actual world of Pokemon, but it was fun. I guess with rules you could keep things in hand. I like it.

I'll just leave this here. It's pretty well put together for a homebrew. Of course, it also has stats and dice and whatnot, so it's not exactly ideal for forum roleplaying.

If this roleplaying board does happen, I will be standing by with writefaggotry. I can't DM for shit but I can build a campaign setting like nobody's business. I once created a planet where I statted out its mass, atmospheric composition, circumference, period, air pressure, surface area, density, escape velocity and axial tilt. Then I dredged up a list of historic city names (Detroit was once known as the much more sophisticated-sounding Ville d'Etroit) and handpicked about 50 names from various cultures. After that I wrote a comprehensive summary of the planets notable features (auroras and massive thunderstorms ftw) and wrote far too much about imaginary countries than I will readily admit. I am crazy prepared.

Or perhaps both. Truthfully, this is what happens when I'm bored, have nerdy friends, and have been reading too many wikipedia articles. Actually, I did take an astronomy course, so I at least know a little about space at large. So while I may be crazy, this is more the result of boredom than anything else.

Well I was merely pointing out that If I were to role play I would do things like go from one town to the next,while encountering Pokemon. You would probably be like, "while on my way to Saffron City, I stuck my finger in the air to test the wind. It was blowing from the south west at 12 knots. This told me that a storm would be rolling in soon. Knowing that the trees along the route would not protect me from the rain, I quickly hurried along to the nearest Pokemon Center."

Thats a good way to roleplay Rockstar. Maybe if this happens you should start it off.

If enough people join in and it is moderated it could be cool. I'm up for giveing it a shot.
